Liquitex® | PROFESSIONAL Fluid Mediums

With the Liquitex® PROFESSIONAL Fluid mediums you lower the viscosity of your acrylic paint – making it thinner & more fluid. With these mediums you further increase the volume of your paint, so that you can do more with the same amount of paint. And you can use these mediums as glue for collage techniques and as a fixative.

This range also includes a handy spray to keep the paint on your palette open longer.

Q – What is this product for & how can I use these mediums as fixatives?

A – You can use the PROFESSIONAL Gloss medium and the PROFESSIONAL Matte medium to fix soft pastels, loose pigment, graphite & chalk. To do this, mix 1 part medium with 1 part (distilled) water. This fixative is best applied with a sprayer or airbrush.

Lay your work horizontally and apply a few layers about 30 cm away from your work. Work crosswise, i.e. one layer from left to right, the other from bottom to top. And work quickly, without hesitation!

Keep in mind, though, the colours may become a little darker, deeper and shinier. Testing first on a test piece is always smart.

Q – Can I also use this medium for this for photo transfers?

A – Yes, you can also use the PROFESSIONAL Gloss medium and the PROFESSIONAL Matte medium for that! Do you want special effects with your photo transfers? Then add 5-10% metallic or iridescent acrylic colours to these mediums.

Try experiment with 5-10% PROFESSIONAL Glass beads! Do you prefer a more opaque effect? Then use PROFESSIONAL Gloss gel or PROFESSIONAL Gloss heavy gel, both also from Liquitex®.

Do you refer a fancy, silk-matt result?

You can tweak the gloss level yourself by mixing the PROFESSIONAL Gloss medium and the PROFESSIONAL Matte medium together, in any desired ratio.

So you can get a nice, satiny result – not glossy, not matt – just the way you like it!

If you use that PROFESSIONAL Palette wetting spray? You can also use it on your painting itself to keep your paint open longer!
