Over the next few months artist, printmaker and educator Jamie Temple will be artist in residence at RAW Labs, using the space to build and work from a temporary print studio with an exciting programme of hands on workshops and events. There will be plenty of opportunity to interact with Jamie as he develops new artwork, learn about his varied approaches to printmaking and sign up for workshops for all skill levels.
Jamie’s practice is rooted in printmaking from which he creates architectural and landscape inspired works on paper and site specific installations. His work draws from a fascination with the built and natural environments we inhabit and transform, taking inspiration from architecture, landscapes and the environment, and experimenting with process and materials.
The sharing of knowledge and skills is an important part of Jamie’s creative practice, and he regularly delivers workshops and courses across print studios, museums, galleries and art centres in the UK and internationally. He is committed to broadening engagement in the arts and introducing new audiences to varied traditional and contemporary approaches to making.
During this residency Jamie will be creating Temple Print Studio, a temporary print studio that will act as a functional space from which I can run a programme of skills based workshops and drop-in activities open to all skill levels and abilities. The workshops will cover varied processes in relief, screenprint, etching and monoprinting, taking the form of timed workshops, drop-in session run by Jamie himself – also inviting a number of professional artists to deliver collaborative workshops introducing diverse approaches to print that incorporate painting, drawing and bookbinding.
Jamie will be hosting an exhibition at the end of the residency and aims to take opportunities throughout to show and invite feedback and discussion to better inform the themes, ideas and concepts informing the work.
