Surbiton Art Group

Winner of our draw

The Surbiton members were very pleased to be selected as winners of our draw and invited our editor to visit their Monday night acrylic demonstration performed by local artist Keith Robinson.

The group was originally formed in 1947 to help encourage the practise and appreciation of visual arts, including drawing, painting, calligraphy and sculpture. They meet once a month and try to keep a varied schedule including demonstrations, lectures, practical painting and drawing workshops as well as time to appreciate each other’s work and offer critique.

No selection process

There are 2 exhibitions a year where members are encouraged to submit work. The first takes place this month starting on the 23rd May until 30th. To offer maximum encouragement and opportunity for their artists there is no selection process, and the ever increasing high standard and number of sales each year more than justifies this decision!

If you are local to Surbiton and would like to give the group a try it is possible to join a monthly meeting on a visitor basis before agreeing to full membership. Meetings take place in the hall of Surbiton Library. You can obtain more information by contacting Mr Alan Williams on 020 8397 1050 or by email at [email protected].
