Bromley Art Society
Since Bromley Art Society was formed in 1947 its members have always worked hard to ensure that the society continues to grow and flourish which means that they are kept very busy!
They hold regular exhibitions at Ripley Arts Centre in Bromley, as well as at local church halls, parks, their local environmental centre and a variety of other venues. The exhibitions are often praised for the quality of work but also on the variety which includes paintings and drawings in all media as well as pottery, embroidery, jewellery and mosaics. They also work together with ‘Creative Bromley’ at art and craft events and organise fundraisers for different charities. Members meet once a month for demonstrations and lectures and have the opportunity to enjoy making art together on weekly painting days held at Ripley Arts Centre.
Members believe that one of the best aspects of being part of the society is the friendships that develop through working and painting together. This was clearly evident in the painting session attended by GreatArt; it was a comfortable, social environment where members can work on their latest pieces, catch up with friends and learn from their peers. Among the members present at the session were Chairperson Pat Tucker and Editor of the quarterly society’s magazine, The Easel, Allan Davies.
A very important feature of this society is that it is open to all and is dedicated to encouraging artists of all ages, levels and experience.
