The trio enenen started playing together in Trondheim, Norway about 12 years ago and consists of Eirik Hegdal (saxophone/clarinet), TorHaugerud (percussion) and Michael Duch (double bass). It can sound  like a Nordic version of Jimmy Giuffre’s famous trio of the sixties, and sometimes more like Ornette Coleman or Spontaneous Music Ensemble. enenen have released two albums and have worked together on many more in other projects, ranging from contemporary classical to postrock.

Michael Francis Duch is a Norwegian bass player and Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He has been involved in more than 50 recordings released in various formats, including two solo albums, and has played concerts in Europe, Asia and North America.

Michael Francis Duch plays in a trio with Rhodri Davies and John Tilbury, the rockband Dog & Sky, the improv quartet LEMUR with Bjørnar Habbestad, Hild Sofie Tafjord and Lene Grenager and various other constellations. Ad Hoc collaborations include Pauline Oliveros, Mats Gustafsson, Christian Wolff, Tony Conrad, Joëlle Léandre, amongst others.

He completed his project “Free Improvisation – Method and Genre: Artistic Research in Free Improvisation and Improvisation in Experimental Music” as a research-fellow at NTNU late October 2010.

Eirik Hegdal is a Norwegian saxophonist, composer, arranger and music teacher, leader of Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. In 2002, Hegdal with drummer Tor Haugerud, started a collaboration with the classic piano trio «Alpaca Trio», consisting of Else Bø (piano), Sigrid Elisabeth Stang (violin) and Marianne Baudouin Lie (cello). The group works with compositions by Hegdal in the intersection of improvisation and contemporary music, and released under the band name «Alpaca Ensemble» the EP Skråpanel and an album Tapet Tapet!, both in 2007. In 2010 came a tentet edition of the same ensemble piece Elevator, a collaboration between Hegdal and poet Matt Burt, with an album release from the premiere performance at Trondheim Kammermusikkfestival i 2008.

Tor Haugerud is an experienced drummer and percussionist, living in Trondheim, Norway. As a musician, he has developed his own unconventional style based on improvised music influenced by the European contemporary music scene. He was involved in a production for Trondheim Jazzfestival (2005), and has contributed for Cirka Teater, showing his background as a physical actor and performance artist in projects of surrealistic art, in groups like “Cirka Teater”“MisterYtor” and “Teater Fot”, in which he also is a composer. At “SoddJazz” 2006 he performed with Trio Alpaca, and is now a member of Alpaca Ensemble which has released the records Tapet Tapet and Elevator with music composed by Eirik Hegdal. Haugerud is also a guest lecturer at the Music Performance Studies at the Trondheim Musikkonservatorium.
