Join us for a demonstration of world class handmade brushes from master brush maker Da Vinci!

We are very pleased to host artist Suzi Morris who will be demonstrating a selection of brushes from across the Da Vinci range, including watercolour brushes on Saturday 13th April and oil brushes on Sunday 14th April.

Demonstrated brush ranges available to try will include:

  • Maestro 10 series – for watercolour
  • Casaneo – for watercolour
  • Spin series – for watercolour
  • Sable series 1610, 1810 and 1815 – for oil and acrylic
  • Grigio series – for oil and acrylic
  • Top Acryl series – for oil and acrylic
  • 582 Mottler – for oil and acrylic
  • plus a selection of wide brushes

Da Vinci have a long standing experiance in manufacturing top quality artists’ brushes, and have been doing so in Germany since the end of the 19th century. Their brushes are hand shaped and perfected by many skilled craftsmen in their Nuremburg factory using the highest quality materials, and a combination of traditional methods and contemporary production process to ensure perfect quality standards across the range.

The brand manufactures and develops brushes for a wide range of techniques from oil, watercolour and acrylic painting to ceramic, gilding and silk painting.

Our demonstrator Suzi Morris is a visual artist whose painting investigates ideas of the sublime, drawing connections from the contemporary world of bio technology, whole genome sequencing, and the bodily experience of oil painting. ‘Lines’ run through her work paying homage to the modernist heyday of colour-field painting as they act as ‘biomarkers’, opening up a negotiation between stillness and disquiet. Biomarkers are often used in a clinical context to predict our human response to treatment. Morris’ paintings resonate with many scientific discoveries of our time as genomic medicine opens the doors towards personalised medicine.

Her work has been exhibited widely in the UK and Germany, and features as part of collections globally. Most recently, her research involves working alongside Imperial College, London.
