Art in Healthcare are delighted to announce their first Arts & Health Day – a one-day programme of creative workshops covering a variety of exciting subjects. Participants can try their hands at yoga, singing and printmaking, and there will be a talk by mixed-media artist Sally Price on her artistic inspiration.
The schedule will be:
10am-11am – Yoga workshop
This will be a session suitable for beginners and those with experience. Emma Stewart-Jones, (Art in Healthcare CEO) will lead participants through gentle stretches and yoga postures that will work on strength and flexibility.
Music will be used to calm the mind and physical adaptions given, so the class will be suitable for all body types. Please bring a mat.
11:15am-12:15pm – Singing workshop
Jennifer Craig will lead you through some vocal warm-ups, followed by working through some repertoire. This will cover pop, folk and rock, so we will have fun going over our firm favourites, such as Ed Sheeran, Adele or Queen. There is no prior experience needed, so if you enjoy singing and exploring new songs then this is the session for you.
12:15pm-1pm – Lunch – Feel free to bring a packed lunch or visit at the Summerhall cafe.
1pm-3:30pm – Artist Talk and Printmaking Workshop
Mixed-media artist Sally Price will discuss her work, which often focuses on the act of making and how we interact, react and relate to the physical properties of materials. After the half-hour talk, Sally will deliver a printmaking workshop involving participants in exploring some of the themes from her talk. This will be suitable for complete beginners. Thank you to Great Art for supplying the art materials for this workshop.
