With Liquitex®’s PROFESSIONAL Additives you change the chemical structure of your acrylic paint. They contain no binder – and binder is the glue that holds your paint together. That is why you have to use them sparingly. Otherwise, there would be too little binder left in your paint to achieve a stable paint film.

This gel-like retarder slows the drying time of your acrylic paint by up to 40%, without reducing the tinting strength of your paint. So, your paint stays open longer and you can work longer.
This additive is not only perfect if you work in dry and hot climates.
It is also a godsend if you work in large formats. It gives you all the time you need to set up large areas, make nice colour transitions and soften your lines.

Liquitex® | PROFESSIONAL Flow aid additive
This medium dramatically increases the flow of your acrylic paints and mediums, while smoothing and minimising brush strokes. It facilitates colour washes and increases the absorption of your paints.
This additive also enables all kinds of special watercolour-like ways of working. To name but a few:
- flow art
- colour washing
- staining
- bleeding
If you work on an absorbent ground, your paint will quickly sink into your support. On a non-absorbent ground, your paint remains open and fluid for longer. You then have plenty of time to manipulate your paint.
