With Liquitex® PROFESSIONAL Varnishes, you apply a varnish layer to your work once you have finished painting and your work has dried thoroughly.
This protects it against damage and seals it off from dust and dirt. It also protects your colours against discolouration caused by UV radiation from (day)light.
Does your painting have spots that are duller and pieces that are shinier? And does that bother you? With varnish, you can even out the gloss level of your painting. This way, you can remove those dull areas and unify your work.
And is the gloss level you want not included? The varnishes in a bottle can be mixed together in any proportion you like. So, you can determine your desired gloss level yourself.
Not sure which gloss level you want? Then start with a glossy layer. In the following layers you can work towards silk and/or matt. Why that order? If you start with a matt layer, you will never get it shiny in the following layers. That’s annoying if you don’t like the matt layer anyway. But a glossy layer can always be made matt in the following layers.
