This will be the 4th in a series of collaborative residencies organised by Hundred Years Gallery.

Terry Day is a musician, lyricist, song writer, visual artist and poet. A self-taught musician in a family of musicians, he began improvising on the drums with his brother in 1955. In the early 1960s he formed the Hardy Holman Day trio focusing on free improvisation and later he became part of Kilburn & the Highroads, a band led by Ian Dury.

Terry studied at Walthamstow School of Art and later at the Royal College of Art, London. As an art student in the 1960s he was a pioneer of improvisation, free jazz & experimental music. You can learn more about Terry and his work here.

Robyn Steward is a self taught painter using acrylics on canvas and paints with her fingers and hands.

Robyn has Asperger’s Syndrome and over the last decade has built up a international reputation as a trainer, helping professionals, parents and schools learn about Autism directly from a person, and has recently published her first book, about women on the autistic spectrum. You can learn more about Robyn on her website.

During their time at GreatArt Terry and Robyn will be working with the theme of landscapes and spacescapes, exploring their practices and relationships between visual art and music. They also both work heavily with improvisation.

During this residency both artists will also have an exhibition of work at Hundred Years Gallery where the finished pieces will also be displayed. Please feel free to drop into our front of house to see them work, and also the gallery to see more.

This residency has been organised in partnership with Hundred Years Gallery, which is only a short walk from GreatArt at 13 Pearson Street, London, E2 8JD
