Win a place on a 5 day ‘Freedom in Painting’ course in Port Isaac, Cornwall
Great Art are proud to announce an exciting opportunity to win a place on a 5 day ‘Freedom in Painting’ course, 14th-18th May 2018 in fabulous Port Isaac, Cornwall with inspirational artist and tutor Ashley Hanson, a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists.
Port Isaac – North Cornwall’s jewel, with its small harbour and whitewashed cottages, set in a spectacular rugged coastal landscape, is of course the fictitious Port Wenn in TV’s Doc Martin.
The first day will be spent on location in and around Port Isaac and fabulous nearby Trebarwith Strand with its’ surging tides and dramatic rock formations. The next four days will be devoted to painting in the light and spacious studio, Port Isaac Village Hall (only a five minute walk from the harbour, shops and cafes), which has a seated front lawn with sea glimpses and a great viewpoint for outside working.
In the studio, Ashley will help artists develop their paintings and find their own personal interpretation of the coastal landscape. Colour, mark-making, space and composition are all areas that will be explored and there will be plenty of time for one-to-one tuition. During the course Ashley will also discuss the work of other artists and demonstrate many tips and techniques.
This fantastic prize includes 5 days tuition outdoors and in the studio plus £150 worth of art materials supplied by GreatArt. We would also like to invite the winner to write about their ‘Freedom in Painting’ experiance for inclusion in the GreatArt magazine later this year.
Please note that accommodation and other travel expenses are not included and a reasonable level of fitness is required as there is some steep walking in and around Port Isaac.
Ashley looks forward to welcoming the winner of the competition onto this popular course.
