Working across three of London’s most deprived boroughs; Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham, Stour Space supports local creative practice, community development and sustainable regeneration of the area. Devoted to the promotion and production of art and design, it provides 22 affordable artists studios, regular programme of art events in the open plan gallery space, 20+ grassroots programmes on site, multi-purpose function space with Olympic views for private events and popular riverside café & bar.
Proudly registered as an Asset of Community Value under the Community Right to Bid Policy, as part of the Localism Act 2011, the Stour Space building has been listed as a valuable public venue in the local area by Tower Hamlets council and local residents. With a focus on the local neighbourhood, Stour Space works in collaboration with many local enterprises, residents, artists and committees to grow the creative industry.
As a non-profit company, the organisation invests all profits back into local initiatives from giving jobs and training opportunities to locals and creatives to providing a free space to host events and bring culture to the community i.e. art exhibitions, fundraisers, music nights, festival, markets, drawing classes, yoga classes, ping pong sessions and more.
