Visiting Bognor Regis Art Society
Jubilee Community Centre is not a bad place to spend a blustery afternoon, particularly if it’s full of the smiling faces from Bognor Regis Art Society ready for their Saturday demonstration. On this particular occasion the members were being guided by professional artist William Newton in the medium of watercolour. He has been demonstrating with the society for many years and is always a firm favourite, but for a change they’re looking at penguins today.
The society welcomes all artists from the beginners to the more experienced, and are a very social bunch with lots of laughter and chat throughout the day. They run sessions like the one we visited once or twice a month, with a demonstration in the morning, followed by a workshop with refreshments in the afternoon for those who want to participate.
The demonstrations and workshops are run by professional artists and other regulars have included Sharon Hurst, and Wendy Jelbert.
As well as the regular demonstration days, the society also hold 3 exhibitions a year at Arundel, which is a stunning setting for members to showcase their work with the opportunity to sell to visitors from all over the world. Some members have seen their work taken home to the USA or Asia! They are also a great place for the members to socialise, something they do very well!
