Supported by GreatArt!
The society members have many opportunities to practice their techniques and learn new skills with regular workshops and classes available in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel and other specialized subjects such as Chinese brush painting, with up to six classes per week running in peak times. They also hold monthly meetings from September to June which feature demonstrations and talks on various aspects of art, different mediums and artists. Painting days and outings are arranged during the summer so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and socialize with other members of the society.
The society’s annual exhibition takes place in July and is open to all members regardless of ability with the opportunity to sell work and win prizes. They also have regular charity sales, a running exhibition in the town’s surgery which is changed every three months, and a selection of members’ paintings are also hung in the corridors of local residency homes for the elderly.
